Sacred Space is a website that draws inspiration from the spiritual teachings of Saint Ignatius of Loyola, a sixteenth-century Basque figure known for his profound insights into the relationship between God and humanity. This site, which has been in operation since 1999, is a collaboration between the Irish Province of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits) and Loyola Press.

Engaging in prayer through digital means may seem unusual or unfamiliar, especially when surrounded by distractions or in the presence of others. However, the belief that God's presence permeates all aspects of existence enables us to connect with the divine even in unexpected circumstances. With practice, prayer can become an integral part of everyday life, regardless of one's physical surroundings.

Sacred Space offers a structured framework to guide individuals through a complete prayer session comprised of six stages. These stages include preparatory measures for both the body and mind, culminating in reflection on a scripture passage specifically chosen for each day. The stages are as follows:

• The Word
• Conversation
• Conclusion

Although expressed in the first person narrative ("I"), the prayers presented on the site are designed for active participation rather than recitation. Each stage serves as an exercise or meditation aimed at establishing a deep connection with God and acknowledging His presence in one's life.
